Dutchess County Jobs Week To Be Highlighted By Work Local First Job Fair
By DCRCOC - The Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce is pleased to designate the week of September 16-20 as Jobs Week. In recognition, the Chamber has planned a slate of pro-growth, pro-employment events to keep Dutchess County’s focus on creating jobs and growing the economy, headlined by the Work Local First Job Fair on Wednesday, September 18 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel and Conference Center. Admission to the job fair is complimentary and complete information, including the companies seeking new employees, can be found by visiting dcrcoc.org/jobfair.
In addition to the nearly 100 local employers scheduled to attend, the Work Local First Job Fair features a daylong lineup of career change seminars on topics including how to use LinkedIn effectively and creative ways to manage money during a job transition. Experts from the Chamber’s Career Connections For Professionals Committee will also be on hand to offer one-on-one job coaching and resume critiquing sessions. All activities associated with the Work Local First Job Fair are provided free of charge to attendees. Health Quest and the Poughkeepsie Journal proudly sponsor the job fair. Ridley Lowell Business and Technical Institute, Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union and Dutchess One Stop Career Center sponsor the complimentary seminar series.
On Tuesday, September 17, the Chamber is hosting an invitation-only luncheon at Nerak Systems in Fishkill for members of the manufacturing sector throughout New York State. During the event, the Chamber’s Manufacturing and Trade Committee will officially unveil their new website featuring a slew of resources for manufactures, and a special presentation will be made by Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro. Many leading experts have identified the manufacturing sector as a potential area of growth for the region.
During SBA Days on Thursday, September 19, Catherine A. Maloney, President and CEO of the Dutchess County Economic Development Corporation, will discuss the availability of revolving loans and other financial products that exist to allow businesses to expand and hire more people. On Friday, September 20, small business owners are invited to attend a special Procurement Workshop at the Chamber offices located at 1 Civic Center Plaza, Suite 400 in Poughkeepsie. This complimentary opportunity will help local contractors learn how they can work with Dutchess County Government. The Procurement Workshop is provided in conjunction with the New York State Small Business Development Center.
