Hudson Valley Bike Rides- Bike New York presents the annual Discover Hudson Valley Ride on Sunday, June 29th, beginning in Poughkeepsie. Participants can choose to ride through different routes of 15, 33, 50, 75, or 100 miles.
On the day of the ride, Metro-North Railroad will suspend its bike permit requirements and will allow up to 75 bikes per train! Room for bikes is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Forgotten Bridge 3-County Tour, consisting of 100 miles, takes riders across the Mid-Hudson Poughkeepsie Bridge pedestrian path, into Ulster County, through farmland and rolling hills, and over the Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park. The Forgotten Bridge 2-County Tour, consisting of 75 miles, features much of the same country scenery as the previous route. The Walkway 50, consisting of 50 miles, takes bikers to the Tony Williams Park and into scenic through the byways back roads of Dutchess County. The Walkway 33, consisting of 33 miles, is similar to the previous tour, but with less mileage. The “Hudson Valley Rail Trail Loop”, consisting of 15 miles, will take cyclists out to the Tony Williams Park Rest Stop and over the Hudson River on the Walkway. The last one is perfect for families!
All ride options include picturesque views of the Hudson Valley and Dutchess County. Routes are well-marked, include well-stocked rest areas, and there is full SAG support. All participants receive a free t-shirt and may enjoy locally produced refreshments, accompanied by live entertainment, at the end of the ride Festival.
