Beacon Open Studios May 2nd thru May 4th 2014

Beacon Open Studios is happening the weekend of May 2-4 from noon until 6pm. This city-wide celebration of Hudson Valley talent features 55 remarkable artists, working in all media, including painters, sculptors, photographers, jewelers, ceramicists, glass artists, multi-media and interdisciplinary artists. Artists who do not have studies rent U-Haul trucks and create their own pop-up installations in the back of the truck; they’re located at 45 Beekman Street This is a wonderful chance to get an inside peek at the workings of Beacon’s creative community and how they get their inspiration. It is free and open to everyone to come and enjoy this self-guided tour.

Hudson Beach Glass at 162 Main Street in Beacon serves as the headquarters for the event. Here you can pick up a free color catalog with a map to all the artists’ studios. Get an overview of the artwork by checking out the Kickoff Exhibition on display in their second floor gallery. The New Children’s Art room is open all weekend (children must be accompanied by adults) It’s located in the Amity Arts Center at 50 Liberty Street in Beacon.

The Kickoff Party takes place from 6-9pm on Friday, May 2nd, where artists and art lovers alike are invited to attend the celebratory start, complete with snacks and beverages, at Hudson Beach Glass. The Open Studios event begins on Saturday, May 3rd at 12 noon and runs until 6pm, ending May 4th at 6pm. It’s a great way to create a road trip with a purpose!

A full-color catalog and map to the studies is available for free to act as a guide around town. It includes photos of participating artists’ work as well as having their websites listed.
