28th annual Town Decorating Day & Parade of Lights in Pine Plains. Town Park. Amazingly this event grows every year! Decorations are collected for the many pine trees in town. Hot chocolate and holiday music accompany young and old as they decorate the hamlet's trees. 3pm. Parade of lit floats and vehicles up Main St. follows; Smith Elementary School to firehouse & back to center. Bring the kids to meet Santa & Mrs. Claus and their live reindeer. 5pm. Free. "Festival of Lights". Tymor Park, 249 Duncan Rd. Town of Union Vale (Lagrange). Brighten this holiday season as they once again flip the switch to nearly 150,000 LED lights. 6:30pm. In an effort to not just brighten the sky, but also the spirits of local families in need, they'll collect non-perishable food donations and unwrapped toys to be dispersed to food banks and toy drives. 20th annual Celebration of Lights Parade & Fireworks. Bardavon, 35 Market St., Poughkeepsie. Marching musicians, giant puppets, classic cars, scouts, floats, fire engines, dignitaries and Santa Claus on a fire engine, all tossing candy. "Parade of Lights" with Santa & Millbrook Tree Lighting. Two holiday traditions are combined for a wonderful evening. The tree lighting ceremony is at the Tribute Garden Park entrance on Franklin Ave. 6-6:30pm. Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive on the Millbrook fire truck, leading a Parade of Lights of lighted floats and vehicles, traveling to the firehouse for refreshments, courtesy of the Millbrook Fire Department Women's Auxiliary. Sinterklaas Festival Day in Rhinebeck
A day-long, colorful celebration of dance, theatre and music all over the village. The spectacular Children's Starlight Parade, featuring two-story tall, animated puppets carried by hundreds of volunteers, closes the day at twilight. Kings and Queens of the celebration, children wear crowns they made and carry their branches in the Parade. A non-denominational event based on the town's Dutch heritage, Sinterklaas joins residents and visitors alike, people of all ages and backgrounds, in a memorable celebration of children, art and the light of the winter season.
